The deputy minister of South Africa's Coorperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Department, Prince Zolile Burns-Ncamashe has called for calm in the city of KuGompo, in the country's Eastern Cape Province, after a march against the alleged coronation of the the Igbo Nigerian King turned violent today. At least 12 vehicles are believed to have been set alight during the chaos.  South Africa is ramping up border security and traveller support measures ahead of the busy Easter holiday period. Commissioner Michael Masiapato of the Border Management Authority (BMA) told media that a multi-departmental deployment plan aimed at protecting vulnerable travellers, improving infrastructure, and ensuring smoother movement at ports of entry will be established.
