In a major public-health breakthrough, the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo today officially declared the end of the latest Ebola outbreak.
After 42 days without a single new case the required span of two full Ebola incubation periods and following the recovery and discharge of the last confirmed patient, authorities said the chain of transmission has been broken.
