After 11 days of international competition, the Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Championships came down to the final plays at TD Place. Canada fought valiantly in a see-saw battle with the Americans, but fell short 77-76 in Saturday’s Gold Medal Game. Wheelchair Basketball Canada CEO Wendy Gittens says the response from Ottawa fans throughout the tournament exceeded expectations. Meantime, a group of Carleton University students are celebrating a big international win, as the school’s Planetary Robotics Team took home the golden trophy at the 2026 Canadian International Rover Challenge. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent catches up with chassis lead Jordan Lynch and manufacturing lead Adam Potera. Plus, a Canadian indie-folk band from Dartmouth is paying a visit to The Red Bird this coming Saturday! We get to know Andrew Shaver – the voice that fuels Clever Hopes.

Clever Hopes, a Canadian indie-folk band from Dartmouth, is led by the vision of singer-songwriter Andrew Shaver. His roots, however, date back to his Toronto origins and his past experience as a theatre director. This coming Saturday, he is paying a visit to The Red Bird on Bank Street, and with a new album in hand. Shaver joins Andrew Pinsent to talk about his musical journey, and his latest endeavour called ‘Even Gooder Than Tomorrow’.
