After 11 days of international competition, the Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Championships came down to the final plays. Canada fought valiantly in a see-saw battle with the United States, but fell short 77-76 in Saturday’s Gold Medal Game at TD Place. Both of Canada's top scorers dropped 30-plus points in the finale. Wheelchair Basketball Canada CEO Wendy Gittens says this tournament highlights the kind of athletes that play this sport, adding that the response from Ottawa fans throughout the tournament exceeded expectations.
