After 11 days of international competition, the Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Championships came down to the final plays at TD Place. Canada fought valiantly in a see-saw battle with the Americans, but fell short 77-76 in Saturday’s Gold Medal Game. Wheelchair Basketball Canada CEO Wendy Gittens says the response from Ottawa fans throughout the tournament exceeded expectations. Meantime, a group of Carleton University students are celebrating a big international win, as the school’s Planetary Robotics Team took home the golden trophy at the 2026 Canadian International Rover Challenge.
