Ottawa mayoral candidate Jeff Leiper is calling for an infrastructure levy if he’s elected into power this Fall. Spending the past 12 years as the City Council voice for Kitchissippi Ward, he argues that Ottawa’s infrastructure is long in the tooth, and says a 1 percent levy could be just what the doctor ordered. At the same time, he is pledging to keep property taxes ‘affordable and predictable’, although his plan doesn’t include a specific target. He joins Kristy Cameron on Ottawa Now.
