Prime Minister Carney is on his way back to Canada’s Capital, as Parliament gets set to return for the Fall Session. He has been out of town for the bulk of this week, hosting a first-of-its-kind economic summit in Toronto and then speaking to members of European Parliament in France. As you know, Canada has been invited to become an ‘associate member’ of the European Union. And while Carney says he welcomes the possibility, he also stressed that we are looking for partnerships that are complimentary to Canada’s sovereignty, and also reinforce it. Either way, it caught the attention of U.S. President Trump, who said it would be a ‘hostile act’ if Canada accepted the E.U.’s proposal.
