You know an election campaign is in full swing when election signs are popping up on Ottawa’s front lawns. Effective Friday, mayoral candidates were granted permission to generate such support, and a total of 14 names are fighting for Ottawa's biggest seat at Laurier Avenue West. If elected next month, Alex Lawson is promising to rip up on-street parking meters and offer free parking on City of Ottawa streets. He is also vowing to throw out the City of Ottawa’s 3-item garbage limit, increasing that limit to 6 items of garbage every 2 weeks. That vision also includes a waste-to-energy plant.
