Why Is It Hard to Be Vulnerable With Friends? With Sheridan Voysey

View descriptionShare

In the hit TV series 'Nashville', the country superstar Juliette Barnes says that "I don't have friends, I have people who want to be seen with me".  No matter our circumstances, we can all suffer from loneliness and feeling like we've lost touch with our friends.

To help us answer our question about friendship is Sheridan Voysey, an Australian broadcaster and author living in Oxford in the UK.  Sheridan has written eight books, is a regular presenter and guest on BBC Radio 2, and is also the founder and CEO of Friendship Lab.

Launching in February 2025, Friendship Lab is all about addressing the well-being crisis that has resulted from one in five adults having no close friends. The organisation wants to empower men and women with the wisdom and skills to make their friendships thrive.
