Inspired by childhood shenanigans where his brothers would make him open jars that they had deposited flatulence into, Nick Hamman has long since been curious about how far this experiment could stretch.

This February they are going to answer the question as they attempt to follow a fart’s journey across the country, from Cape Town to Joburg. Listen as Nick chats to Mier, who is  currently on day 2 of transporting the jar in his car. Can he smell anything, is the jar still one piece?

On this instalment of this saga, the team set out to find a person willing to travel with the fart from Cape Town all the way to the 5fm studio in Johannesburg, tune in for all the hopefuls who let us know that they'd like to participate.

For some Motivation this Monday, the 5 Drive team put a spotlight on the story of Lethabo Maleka - a pupil from Limpopo who despite becoming blind when he was 10 years old, worked hard and made the top 20 matriculant achievers for the class of 2021! 

Following an encounter with a cobra which lead to him becoming blind, Lethabo speaks of how hopeless he'd become until he realised he could still pursue and education. The 19-year-old is now off to University to study law and also shared the inspiration behind why he chose this route.

We did this with the help of young people from a top ranked South African Sport Aerobic & Fitness group in the township of Atteridgeville! Shining a spotlight on Ladysmith Mambazo’s frontman, the legendary Joseph Shabalala, the film explores his rise to international fame with his iconic isicathamiya acapella group following their musical contributions to Paul Simon’s award-winning album Graceland, which went on to sell over 20 million copies.
