Fidan Shevket on Divorce Myths, Breast Reductions & Starting a New Chapter | Part 2

View descriptionShare

What can 20 years of working in family law teach you about marriage, divorce and what makes a relationship last?

In Part Two of Georgie McCourt's conversation with family lawyer, author, mum and TikTok sensation Fidan Shevket, Fidan gets candid about her “Don’t worry about it” philosophy, dealing with trolls, her decision to have a breast reduction and everything her career has taught her about relationships.

Fidan reveals what ultimately led her to have a breast reduction after years of people commenting on her body, and how the procedure changed her life after she began experiencing chronic back pain.

As a family lawyer, Fidan has spent more than two decades watching relationships break down. She shares what she believes are some of the most common reasons marriages end, from communication problems and falling out of love to couples gradually living separate lives. She also talks about what she's learnt from those experiences and how she applies them to her own relationship.

Fidan and Georgie also get into the world of prenups, or binding financial agreements, including when Fidan believes they can make sense, why they can be complicated, and the importance of getting good legal advice before signing one.

And, of course, there's food. Fidan gives Georgie a glimpse into her latest cookbook project and explains why salads, platters and finding joy in the everyday have become such a big part of her online world.
