He Prepares a Place for You

View descriptionShare

There is something in all of us that longs for things to be made right. We feel it when grief lingers, when injustice goes unanswered, or when life simply doesn’t unfold the way we hoped. Deep down, we know this world is not as it should be.

Jesus speaks directly into that longing in John 14:3: “I go and prepare a place for you… that you also may be where I am.”

This is not just a comforting thought—it is a promise.

While we experience glimpses of God’s goodness here on earth, they are only previews of what is to come. The fullness of joy, peace, and restoration is still ahead. God is actively preparing a place where brokenness will be healed, sorrow will be lifted, and everything wrong will be made right.

Holding onto this truth changes how we live today.

It gives us hope when life feels uncertain.
It steadies us when grief feels overwhelming.
It reminds us that injustice does not have the final word.

Heaven is not an escape from reality—it is the fulfillment of God’s plan to restore all things. And as believers, we live with this “long view,” trusting that what we see now is not the end of the story.

Tonight, whatever weighs on your heart, remember this: your future is secure in Christ. He is preparing a place for you, and one day, you will be with Him—fully, completely, forever.

The best is truly yet to come.

Your Evening Prayer

Father,
Thank You for the promise of Heaven and the hope it brings to my life. When I feel discouraged or overwhelmed, remind me that this world is not the end of my story.

Help me trust that You are making all things new, even when I cannot see it yet. Strengthen my faith to hold onto Your promises and to live with an eternal perspective.

Teach me to share Your love with others so they can glimpse the hope of what is to come. Thank You for preparing a place for me, and for the assurance that one day I will be with You forever.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
