Sometimes we imagine that encountering Jesus requires a perfect setting—a quiet church, a powerful worship moment, or a season when life finally feels put together. But Scripture and experience both tell a different story.

Jesus often meets people on the road.

In Luke 24, two disciples walked away from Jerusalem, discouraged and confused after the crucifixion. It was there, in their disappointment and uncertainty, that Jesus came alongside them. They didn’t recognize Him at first, but as He spoke and opened the Scriptures, something stirred within them: “Did not our hearts burn within us…?”

Jesus didn’t wait for them to find Him. He met them right where they were.

That’s still how He works today.

He meets us in ordinary moments.
He meets us in broken places.
He meets us when we’re lost, distracted, or unsure of what comes next.

Sometimes His presence is obvious and life-changing in an instant. Other times, it’s quieter—a conversation, a realization, a truth that slowly settles into your heart. But in every case, it is His love that reaches us first.

The beauty of Jesus is not just that He changes our direction—it’s that He walks with us in it. He opens our eyes, softens our hearts, and reveals truth in ways we didn’t expect. And when He does, something begins to shift inside us. Hope returns. Purpose becomes clearer. Our hearts awaken to His presence.

Tonight, consider this: Jesus is not distant from your journey. He is already walking alongside you. Even if you don’t fully recognize Him yet, He is speaking, guiding, and inviting you into deeper relationship.

All He asks is that you remain open to seeing Him.

Father,
Thank You for meeting me right where I am, even when I don’t always recognize Your presence. Thank You for pursuing me with Your love and walking beside me through every season of life.

Open my eyes to see You more clearly. Stir my heart as I encounter Your Word and Your truth. Help me recognize the ways You are speaking, guiding, and drawing me closer to You.

Where I have been resistant or unaware, soften my heart. Lead me into deeper relationship with You, and let my life reflect the transformation only You can bring.
