Tennis is a sport that comes with ups and downs, but for Edward Schmit, it also came with a fresh level of obsession. After a hurricane took over his US Open experience, Eddie found himself falling in love with a sport he'd always been aware of, but never fully paying attention to.
As he watched players like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner start their meteoric rise to the top of the tennis world, Eddie also started playing the sport himself, as an outlet for his mental health. We discussed how the sport helped him find balance, why he connected with tennis as a theatre kid, and how he channeled his love for tennis into his debut novel, The Open Era.
