Citizen Action of Wisconsin is hosting a health care town hall, "A Community Call to Action." 

The town hall takes place Wednesday, February 4 at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center, 1433 Rose St. in La Crosse. The session begins at 6:00 PM. As Wisconsin faces health care cuts under the recently passed federal budget, Citizen Action is leading the fight to protect Medicaid, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act.

The event is free and open to the public. It will provide people with a chance to share their health care stories and to ask questions of town hall panel.

Town hall meeting chance to voice health care concerns 

You've probably read stories or talk about data centers. Data centers are facilities that house computing infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and other components necessary to store, process, and distribute large amounts of data. These data centers are the backbone of the modern digital age. Much of the publicity has involved communities that object to the creation and construction of these centers in communities. The 7 Rivers Alliance will focus on data Centers for its State of the Region Annual Meeting. That meeting is set for Tuesday, February 24 starting at 3:00 PM at the La Crescent Area Event Center. Discussion on data centers part of 7 Rivers Alliance annual meeting 

Do you like wine? Do you like traveling in Wisconsin? Those two activities were discussed on La Crosse Talk with Sean Dwyer on Friday morning.  

Niki Pohnl visited the WIZM studio to share her recent adventure.  She's spent the last year, traveling the Badger State and visiting more than 120 wineries in Wisconsin.  

Her visit even included an old-school fold-out paper map that she marked with dots showing the location of each winery she visited. She also shared a page from her scrapbook highlighting one of her winery visits.

Pohnl says it was an adventure that began after a visit to just one Wisconsin winery. 

Her partners in crime included friends and family. 

She had great stories to tell about some of her favorites, about the adventure, and seeing so much of the state. 

"These people took old barns and turned them into a winery. And it's just amazing architecture. An old school that was turned into a winery. It was just beautiful also. Someone's property that was turned into (a winery)...the rolling hills, you don't know until drive all over the state."

Pohnl also shared her activities and involvement with Rotary in the La Crosse area.

Touring every winery in Wisconsin

The 2026 Olympic Games are about to begin. They generate excitement around the world because they highlight, in part, what humans can accomplish. Athletes often go to their physical limit, but what separates the truly elite athletes from the rest? According to Shilagh Mirgain, PhD, a distinguished psychologist at UW-Health, there's a big part of performance which is mental. The psychologist says because these Olympic athletes are competing on a world stage, there's pressure to succeed, but a lot of the effort goes into the physical aspect of the work. Mirgain says it's important, though, to concentrate on mindfulness and the mental aspect of the performance.  She also discusses how we can all learn from those experiences and make them a part of our lives.
