When State Farm Insurance agents rose up earlier this year in a cry against changes to the contracts State Farm offers them as independent contractors, part of the pushback centered on blaming company plans for AI implementation and a deep suspicion among some agents that State Farm has designs on significantly reducing the number of agents and will use AI to compensate for that supposed reduction in people power. It’s not that simple.

The American Civil Liberties Union said it will be closely monitoring Uptown Station for any constitutional violations as a revised code of conduct takes effect. The ACLU of Illinois asked the Town of Normal to repeal or change its revisions with the town council approved July 21, over objections from social service organizations who argued the rules target homeless people.

That is what the CyrusOne Data Center in Aurora looks like. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange, or CME, Group Data Center next door looks similar. But before you see the warehouse-like buildings, you might hear them first. On a sunny day with few clouds and low wind, and after new regulation, the center was not as loud as it could be. In fact, the nearby traffic was often louder. Mercy Davison, director of planning and zoning for the Town of Normal, and a staffer and intern took a tour of the outside of the CyrusOne facility on such a day.
