New Indigenous protected areas announced and a new alliance looking to grow Indigenous prosperity

The announcement of ten (10) new Indigenous protected areas and the expansion of two (2) more has been welcomed by traditional owners and land preservation advocates.

Environment and Water Minister Tanya Plibersek and Indigenous Australians Minister Linda Burney announced the expansion following a $14.6 million dollar investment.  The IPAs will cover 7.5 million hectares of land and 450 thousand hectares of sea country. 

The CEO of Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation Michael Woodley, and Patrick O’Leary the CEO of Country Needs People spoke to Stephen Clarke.  

In an Australian first, a new alliance has been established by the Australian National University to build financial prosperity in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and close a significant "gap" in Indigenous economic policy.  We speak to ANU's First Nations Vice Chancellor, Peter Yu.
