This week's PODCAST with Mario Corena & ''Vogliamoci Bene'', we welcome in Studio Sanremo special guest Zane Kirkwood, Dual Magarey Medallist and Dual Premiership Captain of the Sturt Football Club and now with Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation.
Zane was born in 1991 and we will find out more later in the interview where he was born, raised, educated etc.
Zane joined Sturt in 2014 after playing 85 games for Port Magpies. Named Vice Captain in his first year, he was Captain from 2015-19.

But even with all these accolades, Kirk has a powerful story about his own mental health issues and anxiety demons. So much so he has done so much to raise awareness, which now includes being part of the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation.
In this interview we ask Zane the Following :
So Zane tell us a bit more about yourself, so firstly Where were you born, raised, educated.
So when did you come to Adelaide?
How did you come to be part of Port Adelaide Magpies? And then the move to Sturt because of the reserves team?
You obviously were held in high regards with all your achievements, especially the 2 Magarey Medals on a personal note, and from a team perspective being the captain of 2 premiership sides. But behind it all were you struggling mentally? You stated So I panicked, and I’d forget how to walk’. What was that all about?
What form of Mental health issues and anxiety did you have? Panic attack?
Did these feelings start from an early age?
What do you do to combat it today?
Di d the unfortunate death of Danny Frawley, who suffered severe depression help you come out?
I notice you did a ride plus skateboard from here to Perth. How was that?
Married to Brooke. And a beautiful bundle of joy in Benji. This truly is a great outcome after what you have had to go through,
Also now being part of Breakthrough Mental Health Research you are out there telling your story, but more important talking and educating about all forms of Mental Health and making sure you are helping others, How does that make you feel?
