Ace & Chrissy's Wish List - Lisa's wish for Jamie

Published Nov 8, 2022, 2:21 PM

Lisa made a wish for her patient Jamie, who has recently been given a terribly sad diagnosis.

Ace and Chrissy's Wish List!

Lisa. You are amazing and selfless. This is unbelievable.

This is really heavy and there is a lot to this. It's, it's heartbreaking. But what you've done is so incredible. So you have sent us a wish and it's not for you. It is for who?

It's for one of our patients at St. Boniface Hospital. What's the current situation?

Well she initially came in I guess not feeling well and it turned out that she has metastatic gastric cancer.

Lisa, you have her permission to share her story with us. Lisa, how old is Jamie?

She's 27 years old. 27, and how long does she have? Well initially it was looking like... you know a few months.

She is getting some immuno therapy or chemotherapy. It's basically for symptom control. So I mean we could look at maybe a few to four months. So she has three or four months left, so we have to do everything we can now. I think, I think this will yes probably be her last uh

Christmas with her family because she has three children who are absolutely adorable and you know she's just such a beautiful girl. If I could I would adopt her as my daughter. So you know sometimes there's just patients that hit a note with you and she's just super special. I can see it. You have like a special bond with a patient.

She went to further her education and she became a dental assistant and you know she's trying to show her kids a good way of life and it's just a big shame. It's very sad. We have to uh... we should get to work here. That sounds great.

Thank you so much lisa. You are amazing! Yeah, you truly are. Thank you. We'll talk soon. Okay goodbye. Bye. Okay and this is Jamie...

This is so much to deal with. How are you doing right now? At home I think. I'm managing. Happy to be at home with the kids and yeah, it's tough, tough...I don't know what to say.

Just trying to stay positive. Lisa is one of the nurses that you interact with at the hospital. Yeah. And she told us she had your blessing to submit a wish for Ace & Chrissy's Wish List. Oh yeah. How many kids do you have? Three. I have a five year old. His name is Morgan. A four year old and she's Alexa.

And an 11 year old named Tyrell.

You are amazingly strong. This is incredibly hard.

Jamie, lisa wrote to us because she was concerned that you sleep on a couch and your children sleep on mattresses and all of you are sleeping in one room of a house. So whatever belongings you have are all in this one room and you're getting chemo treatments.

And so Jennifer is the store manager at Ikea. And Jennifer is not allowing this to happen, you're getting a bed, you're getting a bed, everybody's going to be sleeping properly in this room. Ikea is going to figure that out for you. That's amazing.

Wow, okay.

Where's your head at when it comes to Christmas?

What does christmas look like for you? Um I'm worried.

Worried that their home... like I won't be able to give my kids

what they want. Yeah, I'm pretty worried about Christmas actually. Okay,

so we've been working on a whole bunch of things here ready, first we will send you and the family...

Jamie we're gonna give you Christmas a bit early if that's cool with you? Okay.

And we're doing it up big. You're having Christmas at The Fort Garry Hotel. Ida, Maria, the entire staff of the Fort Garry Hotel is giving you their largest suite and they are turning it into a winter wonderland.

The kids are gonna walk in, you're gonna see this amazing tree that's decorated.A bunch of gifts underneath it. You're staying there to have Christmas. The Fort Garry is taking care of your food. They're taking care of everything you need. That sounds amazing. My kids are gonna love it.

And then there will be toys, toys and more toys. Sue, our friend at Toys"R" Us got to work choosing toys for all the kids and then Toys"R" Us Canada said

we'd like to take it one step further. So each kid will get a $250 gift card from Toys "R" Us and pick out anything else they may want on top of all the

toys. Wow.

Oh my gosh. Now b  ecause you're not working right now, we don't know how you're getting food and so our friend Kevin just down the street on Pembina here at Fresh Co. He and his wife Olga and their staff. So they know that you need help and they want to help you. They're going to give you a $500 gift card to put groceries in the house to feed the family, Okay. Amazing. That's gonna help so much. I've just been... I've been borrowing money and kind of...food is just so expensive.

And then hopefully to cherish these wonderful memories and capture it properly. Our friend Mike Peters, and he's an amazing photographer, he'll do family photos for you. Oh my...this is so amazing.

Lisa the nurse who sent in the wish for you, you know what she said? She said that you were having a tough time and she said you were going through some unthinkable things and she said through everything Jamie that you had this humongous smile on your face. She said that you light up the room.

They were so amazing at The St. Boniface Hospital, all of the nurses. Lisa was amazing. You

are so loved, so loved.

You've been working so hard to stay strong for your kids and to take care of your kids that we would like to take care of you a little bit. So... allow us to do this for you, allow us to let you rest and then have an early Christmas with your family and to just spend time together.

Thank you guys so much. Jamie, everyone is pulling for you that you've got so many people who are thinking about you. Okay.

So we're sending you so much love and so much positivity.

You're amazing. Thank

you. You guys are amazing.
