FACT: When Subway first started, they DID NOT cut the bread the same way they do now... In hindsight, with this 'top flap', as B Mack won't stop calling it, how were they able to stuff all the toppings inside? Cuz the top cut wasn't very big... but it worked! 

We asked about it and they said it was to cut down on time when making a customer a sandwich.
