A Researcher and Lecturer at Wits University, Dr Gilad Isaacs says the 2.5 percent salary increase for MPs in the seventh Parliament, will not have much impact on the public purse. Earlier this year President Cyril Ramaphosa approved the salary increase for MPs, members of the provincial legislatures and Premiers. New MPs will be earning about R1.27 million annually or hundred thousand a month. Dr Isaacs says while these increases may be relatively high compared to ordinary workers -- they are not above inflation. Abongwe Kobokana reports...

The Democratic Alliance's (DA's) ICT draft policy reveales that it would propose holding public hearings to determine whether South Africa needs a public broadcaster. If it is determined that South Africa no longer requires the SABC, the DA would propose that it be broken up and sold. The DA's draft policy highlights several other proposals and determines if the public broadcaster should be scrapped. These proposals are for scenarios where South Africa decides that the SABC should remain. Former South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board member Michael Markovitz joins us on the line to share his views on this matter....

Mpumalanga MEC for Community safety, security and liaison, Jacke Macia and Acting Provincial Commissioner, Zeph Mkhwanazi are today visiting the bereaved families of the two children who were reported missing in Mpumalanga recently. Junior Mabandla went missing in the beginning of last month and Peaceful Khosa disappeared this week on Wednesday. The community launched a man hunt and  search and eventually apprehended a man who was found burning what he called rubbish, when interrogated about the the whereabouts of the three-year-old, it was discovered that he had allegedly killed her before allegedly burning her body in the rubbish.
