Statistician-General, Risenga Maluleke says while 76,8% of South African households have access to improved water sources in the dwelling or in the yard, much needs to be done to address the needs of those who still have no access to water. Speaking during the release of Stats SA's General Household Survey findings for the 2024/25 financial year, Maluleke also highlighted the long distances that some South Africans are forced to walk in order to get clean usable water.
