Deputy Minister of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, John Jeffery has this morning received the Gender-Based Violence report from the Public Protector, advocate Kholeka Gcaleka at the Belville Magistrate's Court in Cape Town. The investigation emanates from the administrative challenges faced by the public, particularly women and children, in the South African criminal justice system identified by the Public Protector. Gcaleka says her office has uncovered concerning trends, calling for urgent intervention by the department of Justice. She addressed the media earlier.
