The University of KwaZulu-Natal, in partnership with the KZN Premier's Office, are briefing the media on the latest HIV cure research. Led by Professor Thumbi Ndungu, this groundbreaking trial Africa's first shows 20% of participants remain off antiretroviral therapy and are still virally suppressed after 18 months. The trial tested combination immunotherapy, boosting the immune system to control HIV without lifelong medication. Scientists say these findings could revolutionize future HIV treatments. Presented at a major U.S. conference, this research puts Africa at the forefront of global HIV cure efforts.
