Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor in the Eastern Cape, Gary Van Niekerk has resigned from the position and is expected to be replaced by his deputy and ANC councillor, Babalwa Lobishe. Van Niekerk, who hails from the National Alliance is expected to take up the position of deputy mayor. The ANC has now retained back mayoral positions in Nelson Mandela Bay, the Johannesburg Metro, Tshwane. and Ekurhuleni.
