Mothiba denies interfering in TRC case investigations.

Former acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Lesetja Mothiba has told the TRC Cases Inquiry he never oversaw, directed or interfered in investigations into apartheid-era TRC cases. Mothiba says the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation operates independently of the SAPS, reports to the Police Minister and Parliament, and has a ring-fenced budget beyond the National Commissioner's control. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Cases Inquiry, probing alleged efforts to stall the investigation and prosecution of apartheid-era perpetrators
