Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for two suspects following the fatal shooting of a 53-year-old scholar transport driver in Westbury, Johannesburg. Police say the victim had just dropped off schoolchildren when two men approached him and opened fire. He was declared dead at the scene. Police says the suspects fled in a blue Volkswagen Polo. National Chairperson of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) and PR Councillor in the City of Johannesburg, Yongama Zigebe, has been announced as the party's mayoral candidate for Johannesburg in the November Local Government Elections. Zigebe previously served as the UDM's National Secretary-General. The announcement was made by the party's Deputy President, Nqabayomzi Nkwankwa, in Alexandra today. Nkwankwa has encouraged Zigebe to take the UDM's message to communities across the city, saying the party is ready to listen, work and govern. Sibahle Motha reports...

Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment, David Maynier, has expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in the recovery of the infrastructure that was damaged by the floods in January. Several roads, bridges, and rest camps were seriously damaged. The total extent of the damage was estimated at 950 million Rand. Minister Maynier officiated the handover of projects completed, such as the bridge on the Lower Sabie Road. Mthobisi Mkhaliphi reports....
