The allegations have circulated on social media since the beginning of August. The initial account, which shared the allegations, claimed they were made by municipal manager Morris Montego Maluleka.  Mogalakwena Mayor dismisses social media claims of corruption within the municipality

The Bench Marks Foundation has expressed concern at the number of mining companies operating in South Africa, that continue to fail in providing housing for their employees and local communities as required by law. According to research recently conducted by the foundation, many mines are surrounded by informal settlements where mineworkers and host communities live, due to the failure by the mining companies to meet their legal obligation. For more on this, we spoke to  Bench Marks Foundation Lead Researcher, David Van Wyk

SANTACO in Gauteng has distanced itself from both the fatal attacks on E-hailing drivers at Maponya Mall in Soweto and the forceful and illegal removal family members travelling together in their own vehicle. SANTACO has been addressing the media following the horrific killing of an e-hailing driver Mthokozisi Mvelase, who was shot and set alight in his vehicle on Wednesday, allegedly by disgruntled taxi operators. SANTACO has strongly condemned the incident and called on law enforcement to act swiftly in apprehending those responsible for this violence act. Chairperson of SANTACO in Gauteng, Midday Mali has asked for the industry to be forgiven in this regard.
