The Electoral Court has dismissed the urgent application launched by Umkhonto Wesizwe party founder, Jabulani Khumalo to be reinstated as leader of the party. Khumalo last week launched an urgent application before the specialist court. Khumalo was expelled from the party and removed as its leader earlier this year. The Molopo Magistrate's Court in Mahikeng has transferred to the North West High Court, the case against Agnes Setshwantsho who is alleged to have killed her niece, Bonolo Modisaemang, in order to cash in on a life insurance policy worth R3-million. Murder case against Agnes Setshwantsho transferred to the North West High Court after she was arrested for allegedly murdering her niece for R3-million life policy payout.

The Head of United Nations Peacekeeping has expressed his deepest condolences to South Africa after the loss of two soldiers serving in the SADC force deployed in the eastern DRC. The SANDF earlier confirmed that they were killed and an additional 20 soldiers injured during a rebel M23 attack on the town of Sake, in North Kivu Province. The Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, prompted by a question from SABC News, explained that co-ordination between SAMIDRC, the U.N. Peacekeeping Mission MONUSCO and the DRC's Armed Forces - The FARDC - continued in the context of a complex security environment in the east. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Political Analyst, Professor Thomas Mandrup.

Chairperson of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi says South Africa is in a crisis. She was speaking at a joint event with other foundations on the future of the country at the Mandela Sanctuary today.
