A 16-year-old girl who falsely reported that she was raped has been charged with perjury after investigations by police in Mpumalanga revealed that she fabricated the story. Police spokesperson in the province, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli says police were sent on a manhunt for two men who were driving a black VW Polo from Dullstroom to Lydenburg on Sunday on allegations of rape. Significant resources, including the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit were immediately dispatched but the girl eventually confessed that she had visited a male friend and fearing her parents reaction, chose to lie abour being raped.
