In April 2006, a 27-year-old med student walks into a bar but seemingly never comes out. It sounds like the beginning of a joke but has been nothing but a nightmare for the family of Brian Shaffer.

Shaffer's disappearance, part locked-room mystery, part cautionary tale, remains one of the strangest vanishings of recent times.
