Billy jumped on the phone to another drummer he admires. YES, another drummer - Eric Kretz from Stone Temple Pilots.
STP burst on the international music scene in the early 90s with their debut album, Core, which sold over 7 million copies and spawned the hits Wicked Garden, Plush & Creep.
Overnight, the band went from a small underground following to performing on David Letterman and touring the world with Rage Against the Machine and Megadeath, as well as performing the iconic MTV Unplugged.
Eric discussed his nerves performing for the first time on Letterman and keeping grounded when success came calling.
His lead singer and brother in arms, Scott Weiland, was not so lucky. Success was a curse for him as drug addiction took over his creativity and he found himself in a dark space.
Eric opened up about how this affected the band, not only trying to keep making music, but trying to help Scott overcome his demons. He was fired from the band and passed away in 2015.
The band re-grouped and went on a global search for a new singer - taking 2 years. The search paid off when they found Jeff Gutt, who has given the band a new spirit and sound.
Stone Temple Pilots are coming Down Under to tour as part of their Under The Southern Stars Tour, along with fellow 90s powerhouse acts, BUSH and LIVE
