How this tree-fruit grower is climbing the ladder to meaningful sustainability

View descriptionShare

Actual effective change — like sustainability that actually means something — comes from the bottom up, rather than top-down. We’re thinking, orchard ladders with 10-inch steps and stability teeth, says Vernon Peterson, a fourth-generation tree-fruit grower in California.

This episode marks the sixth of a series we’re doing with Equitable Food Initiative, often called EFI, which works with retailers and growers to create a transparent supply chain, a safer food system and healthier work environments. These episodes will focus on the improvements companies and their people make that elevate workers and create better working conditions.
