8:05 — LAFD says a hose left running to fill a swimming pool sent roughly 7,000 gallons into the slope above the 1900 block of North Wilcox Avenue, pressurizing a retaining wall until it failed Friday afternoon. Cinder's blocks hit a vacant building below; eight apartment units on Grace Avenue were evacuated and later cleared, and crews siphoned the water out in about 90 minutes. Also: Sushiya, the sushi room at 8650 Sunset in Sunset Plaza, closes September 29 after 28 years.
