Four malaria deaths and 858 cases have been reported in Mpumalanga since the beginning of the year. Healtlh MEC Sasekan iManzini says Nkomazi, east of Malelane, is one of the malaria affected zones in the province. The area experience devastating floods in January. Recent floods have created favourable conditions for mosquito breeding. The province is commemorating the World Malaria Day in KwaMhlushwa with a focus on accelerating elimination efforts. Gauteng has recorded 141 confirmed cases and eleven deaths. MEC Manzini has called for cross border collaboration to curb the transmission of the disease .
