This week, executive mayor Pule Shayi and mayor of Greater Giyani Municipality, Thandi Zitha, met with community stakeholders to discuss the draft plans to improve and expand water provision to communities around N'wamanungu Dam (formerly Middle-Letaba Dam). Community stakeholders had until yesterday to submit input on the draft. The executive mayor wants to work with the local municipality to identifying and report illegal connections and water theft. It is expected that Minister of Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina will meet with the communities before the end of next month to present their findings of the ministerial independent investigation into alleged illegal blockages of tributaries feeding the dam.
