Residents of flood-prone Nkomazi in Mpumalanga have urged President Cyril Ramaphosa to direct his government to come up with permanent solutions to flooding in the area. The Nkomazi, Bushbuckridge, Mkhondo and Chief Albert Luthuli municipalities have been seriously affected by the recent floods. Some residents of Mjejane and Orlando - an informal settlement in Komatipoort have expressed satisfaction over President Ramaphosa's visit to their area to assess the extent of the damage caused by the floods. The department, however, says it has noted that in some schools the roofs are leaking and teaching material has been destroyed. This comes amid the department's call for schools in affected areas to resume today.
