ANC Limpopo chairperson, Dr Phophi Ramathuba will launch the ANC local government councillor candidate nominations branch general meeting at Giyani stadium today. ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula says the party plans to 'headhunt' mayoral candidates and allow communities to propose names ahead of the 2026 local government elections. This is the process that started on the 1st of this month.

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has been elected as the new DA Leader - at the party's Federal congress underway in Midrand north of Johannesburg. He replaces John Steenhuisen. Solly Msimanga repaces Helen Zille as the new Federal Chairperson for the next three years. INTRO: The Democratic Alliance says it's ready for its Federal Congress scheduled for this weekend in Midrand north of Johannesburg. So far over two thousand delegates, most of them coming from the Western Cape and Gauteng are expected to attend. With Helen Zille and John Steenhuisen out of the race, several party members have availed themselves for the position of Federal Leader and the Federal Chairperson. A stiff competition is expected to be between the Mayor of Cape Town, Gordon Hill-Lewis, and the Sedibeng caucus leader, Sibusiso Dyonase.
