KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has voiced his concerns about how members of Parliament (MPs) have handled evidence presented to them before the ad hoc committee probing police corruption.The committee is a result of Mkhwanazi's explosive allegations of gross political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system. FOCUS: Bus drivers represented by the SATAWU are threatening to strike after wage negotiations with the employer reached a deadlock

INTRO: Bus drivers represented by the South African Transport Allied Workers Union have threatened to go strike after wage negotiations with the employer reached a deadlock. SATAWU is demanding a 6,5-percent wage increased from the 1st of April this year, and 7,5-percent in the second year. The union says the employer has not revised its offer following the declaration of a dispute last month. The employer has tabled a 3,25-percent wage offer for the current year, and 3,5-percent in the second year, a move the union has described as an insult to drivers who are already underpaid.

Yesterday, the provinces Education Department suspended schooling in several districts for two days following persistent heavy rainfall which resulted in severe flooding causing damage to homes, bridges and roads. COGTA spokesperson, Amos Phago says his department has reached out to the national disaster management center for additional resources and support..
