INTRO:
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, has given scholar transport operators 60 days, from Monday the 16th of February until mid April 2026, to finalize their operating license applications. The safety of learners who use scholar transport has been in the spotlight since the re-opening of schools across the country. Recent incidents, including accidents and overloading, have highlighted the risks that learners are exposed to. The department says, all scholar transport operators must comply with government regulations before transporting learners to schools. The use of bakkies to transport learners is also prohibited as it is against the law. Some of the parents say the operating licenses will guarantee the safety of their children while travelling to school. Meanwhile, Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety says operators must submit their application in person at the nearest district office. The department is also urging operators to act promptly to avoid disruptions to learner transport and to ensure safety standards are met. For more updating information on the signficance of Scholar Transport Operating Licences in Limpopo, we are now joined by the Public Transport Registerer at the department of Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo Mr Percy Ndlala......@ -
