INTRO:
Delegates attending the Urban 20 Mayoral Summit, believes a joint effort is needed to stimulate regional and global dialogues to drive meaningful change and boost the economies of local government institutions. They say such progress could, among other things, help discourage the migration of rural communities to cities in search of economic opportunities. The summit in Sandton, north of Johannesburg brought together local government leaders and cities of G20 countries. Delegates will deliberate on significant measures to shape global priorities for the cities and local government institutions among others. Phanuel Shuma compiled and Euphine Mabunda reports….
