The Basic Education Employment Initiative has been described as a win-win for both schools and participating youth. This week, just over 200-thousand youth or PYEs - an acronym for the Presidential Youth Employment - went back to school at 20-thousand facilities to support teachers in classrooms and maintain school infrastructure. The initiative is aimed at reducing youth unemployment, developing skills to transition youths from school to the labour market, while improving outcomes in the education sector.
