The Organization Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) has urged the Department of Transport to extend the validity period of driving licences to ten years instead of the proposed eight years. This comes after the department confirmed plans to extend the validity period from five years to eight years, to address the administrative backlogs caused by frequent breakdowns of the country's only driver's licenc.e card printer. The proposal is currently under review and is expected to be presented in Parliament in the final quarter of the financial year

Possible Questions
# I would like to seek your insights on OUTA's position regarding the Department of Transport's current proposal to extend the validity period of driving licences from five to eight years, with a further consideration to possibly extend it to ten years?
# Given OUTA's advocacy for efficient and effective governance, do you believe that a ten-year validity period would better serve the interests of drivers and the broader public, especially in light of the administrative challenges caused by the issues with the driver's licence card printer?
# What impact do you think a longer validity period would have on reducing administrative burdens and improving service delivery to the public?
