On Sunday 8 June, will be the 98th edition of the Comrades Marathon. About 22,677 runners will take to the roads between Pietermaritzburg and  to reach the finish, either within their goal time or before the final 12-hour cut-off gun is fired. The eThekwini Municipality says preparations for the 98th Comrades Marathon are in full swing. This year it will be a down-run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

INTRO: Bus drivers represented by the South African Transport Allied Workers Union have threatened to go strike after wage negotiations with the employer reached a deadlock. SATAWU is demanding a 6,5-percent wage increased from the 1st of April this year, and 7,5-percent in the second year. The union says the employer has not revised its offer following the declaration of a dispute last month. The employer has tabled a 3,25-percent wage offer for the current year, and 3,5-percent in the second year, a move the union has described as an insult to drivers who are already underpaid.
