Entering and leaving Giyani CBD was a stranous excercise yesterday due to traffic congestion. There was high volume of vehicles travelling to and through Giyani CDB. Motorists  rely only on one route to travel into the CBD. For some time, there has been a call for another road construction that will help ease the traffic congestion in that area, but it seems things are not changing anytime soon. The Greater Giyani Municipality Mayor Councillor Thandi Zitha led the Easter Road Safety campaign, targeting hotspots with high congestion prospect. The campaign has led to the impoundment of more than six vehicles, mostly mini-buses, for failing to comply with road safety requirements, such as overloading, expired license discs, and invalid roadworthiness certificates. Mayor Councillor Thandi Zitha continues to appeal to road users to observe road safety initiatives during and after the Easter holidays.

Xiyimo xa nkhuluko wa mimovha eGiyani hi Ravumune roya eka Paseka. 

The Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy has conducted a road safety inspection and enforcement operation at the Kranskop Toll Plaza on the N1 in Limpopo today.  Limpopo premier Phophi Ramathuba joined the operation at Kranskop.  The operation forms part of a campaign aimed at reducing road accidents. Also, two people have been killed and another one injured in a collision on the N1 south near Polokwane in Limpopo. Emergency workers are currently at the site of the accident.

He says the damaged fence has become a primary crossing point for illegal migrants and smugglers. Masiapato was at the Lebombo Border Post to monitor Easter holiday operations.
