INTRO: The Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene, has assessed the work that is being done to construct the R529 Road Dzumeri Bridge at Dzumeri village under the Greater Giyani municipality. There has been concerns by residents for months over the delay on the construction of the bridge since the bridge collapsed in February last year. In response, the Limpopo Department of Public Works says it has confirmed that SANRAL has appointed a contractor who will return to site to continue construction.

The deal with Caracas could divert supplies earmarked for China. Earlier the Washington Post reported that U.S. Government assessed that around 75 people died in Caracas during the U.S. military raid to capture deposed President Nicolas Maduro.

The appointment will take effect on the first of next month as the tenure of the current head Shamila Batohi comes to an end. Ramaphosa has appointed Mothibi despite the Advisory Panel which interviewed six candidates for the position indicating in its report that none was suitable. Ramaphosa is adamant that Mothibi has distinguished himself as an outstanding head of the Special Investigating Unit.
