The DA has also called on civil society organisations to reconsider their support for the dialogue. FOCUS: Bus drivers represented by the SATAWU are threatening to strike after wage negotiations with the employer reached a deadlock

INTRO: Bus drivers represented by the South African Transport Allied Workers Union have threatened to go strike after wage negotiations with the employer reached a deadlock. SATAWU is demanding a 6,5-percent wage increased from the 1st of April this year, and 7,5-percent in the second year. The union says the employer has not revised its offer following the declaration of a dispute last month. The employer has tabled a 3,25-percent wage offer for the current year, and 3,5-percent in the second year, a move the union has described as an insult to drivers who are already underpaid.
