The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended Gauteng Judge President Dunstan Mlambo to be the next Deputy Chief Justice. The JSC has concluded its interviews in Johannesburg today. The other two candidates were Northern Cape Judge President Pule Tlaletsi and Free State Judge President Cagney Musi. The position has been vacant since Chief Justice Mandisa Maya assumed her role at the apex of the judiciary in September last year. FOCUS: Bus drivers represented by the SATAWU are threatening to strike after wage negotiations with the employer reached a deadlock

INTRO: Bus drivers represented by the South African Transport Allied Workers Union have threatened to go strike after wage negotiations with the employer reached a deadlock. SATAWU is demanding a 6,5-percent wage increased from the 1st of April this year, and 7,5-percent in the second year. The union says the employer has not revised its offer following the declaration of a dispute last month. The employer has tabled a 3,25-percent wage offer for the current year, and 3,5-percent in the second year, a move the union has described as an insult to drivers who are already underpaid.
