INTRO: South Africa's run at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco has come to a disappointing end. Five-times AFCON champions, Cameroon, beat the 2024 bronze medallists, Bafana Bafana, 2-nil in their Round of 16 match in Rabat. Bafana Bafana were by far the better side in the opening fifteen minutes, but the Indomitable Lions absorbed the pressure, settled into a rhythm and struck either side of halftime. Junior Baptiste Tshamadeu and 19-year-old Christian Kofane scored in the 34th and 55th minutes respectively, while Evidence Makgopa netted a late consolation goal for Bafana in the 88th minute. Bafana will be coming home with a lot to reflect on ahead of the FIFA World Cup in the Americas later this year, while Cameroon march on.
