Over 26-thousand travellers have been processed at the Lebombo Border Post between Mpumalanga and Mozambique since yesterday. Border Management Authority's Commissioner, Michael Masiapato says they expect the number to increase today, as more travellers and Mozambican migrant workers are rushing back home ahead of Christmas Day tomorrow. Thirty BMA staff members have now been deployed at the four processing points in the border to assist with the processing. The Greater Giyani Municipality Mayor Councillor Thandi Zitha led the Easter Road Safety campaign, targeting hotspots with high congestion prospect. The campaign has led to the impoundment of more than six vehicles, mostly mini-buses, for failing to comply with road safety requirements, such as overloading, expired license discs, and invalid roadworthiness certificates. Mayor Councillor Thandi Zitha continues to appeal to road users to observe road safety initiatives during and after the Easter holidays.

The Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy has conducted a road safety inspection and enforcement operation at the Kranskop Toll Plaza on the N1 in Limpopo today.  Limpopo premier Phophi Ramathuba joined the operation at Kranskop.  The operation forms part of a campaign aimed at reducing road accidents. Also, two people have been killed and another one injured in a collision on the N1 south near Polokwane in Limpopo. Emergency workers are currently at the site of the accident.
